7 months old

Today Lucas turns 7 months old.  This month's highlights are: his first two teeth (you can see in this photo), sitting up, and really getting into playing with toys.

Sam has been itching to go cross-country skiing, and there was finally enough snow to give it a go today.

The big excitement in Lucas' life these days is eating solid foods.  As you know from the last post, he started off with avocado on Christmas Day.  Since then we've had great success with sweet potatoes, butternut squash, spaghetti squash, and leeks.  Then things got interesting.  Cod was on sale at the grocery store, so I brought some home and Lucas tried his first fish!

Working Mama

I have officially started my new job as a nurse at Spectrum Health's Meijer Heart Center.  I'm in orientation right now, which involves a mix of trainings, classes, and following my nurse preceptor on the floor.  For orientation I'm working days, then in a few months when I'm on my own I'll be on nights (7am-7:30pm).  I worked the past 2 days on the floor, which meant I left the house before Lucas woke up and got home after he went to sleep.  I missed my little boy so much!  I'm both excited to put this degree to good use, and saddened by all those days I'll miss seeing Lucas.

We finished celebrating the Christmas season with a post-holiday brunch with Chuck, Pat, and Emily.  Here are a couple highlights:
